CI alumnus implements CORAL (COvid Risk cALculator) CDS tool
Partners Clinical Informatics and Innovation fellowship alumnus David Rubins, MD, MBI, and Caitlin Dugdale, MD, recently published “COVID-19 Diagnostic Clinical Decision Support: a Pre-Post Implementation Study of CORAL (COvid Risk cALculator)” in Clinical Infectious Diseases describing the development, implementation, and outcomes of an inpatient diagnostic algorithm and clinical decision support system (CDSS) of emergency department and hospitalized patients who develop symptoms of COVID-19. This newly developed tool minimizes the chance that a patient with a false-negative test escapes detection and indicates when a patient’s probability of having COVID-19 is low enough that isolation can be discontinued, and is now implemented at Mass General Brigham.
