BWH/MGH Clinical Informatics and Innovation March Faculty Lunch with Dr. Alexander Turchin

The March BWH/MGH CI faculty lunch was held at Mission Sushi with NLM Informatics Fellowship alumni, Dr. Alexander Turchin.  Dr. Turchin is the Director of Informatics Research and a practicing endocrinologist at the Division of Endocrinology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a Senior Medical Informatician in the Quality Performance Management unit at Partners HealthCare. Dr. Turchin graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed a Medical Informatics fellowship at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology.

BWH/MGH CI Fellowship well represented at HIMSS 2018

Will Gordon MD (CI 2018) presented posters at the AMDIS/HIMSS Physician Executive Symposium and the Early Careerist Poster Session at HIMSS18 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dr. Gordon presented a poster on a SMART on FHIR HLA and platelet visualization application he worked on during his CI fellowship.

BWH/MGH Clinical Informatics and Innovation Fellows present at the BWH Digital Innovation Hub monthly Digital Research Forum

 

2/21/19  Second year CI fellow Will Gordon and first year CI fellows Heather Lyu and David Rubins presented at the Digitial Innovation Hub monthly Digital Research Forum.  The CI fellows highlighted work that they have done in cybersecurity, clinical pathways integration, and building within Epic to an interdisciplinary audience.  The BWH Digital Innovation Hub is a team within BWH dedicated to supporting digital health to drive more patient-centered, efficient, and safe care through use, development, evaluation and commercialization of digital health.

BWH/MGH Clinical Informatics and Innovation Fellowship welcomes 2018-2020 fellow, Dr. Lin Shen!

 

Lin Shen M.D. is a Clinical and Research Fellow in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Endoscopy at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Lin attended Stanford University for his undergraduate studies where he majored in Human Biology.  He then attended Yale School of Medicine,  and subsequently completed his Internal Medicine residency at Yale New Haven Hospital.  After residency training, Lin spent a year at Yale as an academic hospitalist before coming to Brigham and Women’s Hospital for GI fellowship. Lin has worked on multiple health IT projects including automatic neuroimaging segmentation algorithms, natural language processing-assisted identification of possible hepatocellular cancer in cirrhotic patients, as well as a number of EPIC-related implementation and optimization efforts both at Yale and the Brigham.  His primary interests are clinical decision support, at-risk cohort identification, and workflow optimization.

 

The BWH/MGH Clinical Informatics and Innovation Fellowship is a 2 year fellowship focused on creating future leaders in the field of clinical informatics.  Clinical Informatics fellows have the opportunity to work with experts in the field of informatics throughout the entire Partners Healthcare ecosystem while also pursuing a Master of Biomedical Informatics (MBI) from Harvard Medical School or a Master of Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

The 2nd monthly BWH/MGH Clinical Informatics Faculty Lunch with Dr. Gordon Schiff was held at The Laughing Monk on 2/16/18.  This monthly lunch is a way for CI fellows to meet and learn from faculty throughout the Partners system in an informal setting.
